Sri Lanka has been confirmed as the host nation of the Asia Cup 2022 (T20 format), scheduled to be held from 27 August – to 11 September this year. After the Qualifiers have been completed and the top six teams have been promoted to the main tournament of Asia Cup 2023. Each team will play 5 games in this stage of the tournament, and 2 teams from this stage of the tournament will qualify for Asia Cup 2023, which will again be played in T20 format like the 2023 World Cup and World Series 2019.
For the first time ever, the Asia Cup will be played using the T20 format, with seven teams taking part in the tournament. The Qualifiers to determine which teams will get the chance to play in Sri Lanka will be played in different cities across the Asian continent from 20 August onwards, with the tournament scheduled to begin on 27 August and end on 11 September 2022.

Asia Cup 2022 Format
The format for Asia Cup 2022 is the same as for previous editions. The top eight teams from ICC ODI rankings at a particular point in time will qualify for Asia Cup 2022, scheduled to be held from 27 August to 11 September 2022. All other teams not ranked inside the top eight will play against each other in three rounds of Play-Off matches to decide which two of them will qualify for the main tournament. Therefore, 10 sides, including eight direct qualifiers and two winners of Play-Offs, will compete in Asia Cup 2022.
Asia Cup 2022 schedule announced
The Asia Cup 2022 schedule has been announced, with hosts Sri Lanka hosting a number of teams over three weeks in August and September to determine who will qualify for next year’s tournament. India has already qualified by virtue of being one of seven Full Members, along with Bangladesh, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, Nepal, and UAE. The 2019 World Cup participants – England, New Zealand, and Australia – are also automatically into next year’s event.
